On July 25-26, 2019, the next, the tenth in succession international conference and exhibition MINEX Far East 2019 was held in Khabarovsk. The Institute of Geotechnology Group of Companies traditionally took on the role of the event coordinator. This regional event that covered almost half of the territory of Russia – the richest in the treasures of soil mineral resources, aroused considerable interest among enterprises involved in the development of mineral resources of the Far East, as well as scientific, research, servicing, design and consulting companies, investment structures, state federal and regional organizations. Representatives from a number of Russian regions came to the MINEX FE 2019 Far East events – Khabarovsk Territory, Amur Region, Jewish Autonomous Region, Trans-Baikal Territory, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Irkutsk Region, Magadan Region, Chukotka Autonomous District, Chelyabinsk Region, Sverdlovsk Region, Moscow, Krasnoyarsk Territory, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk Region, Primorsky Territory, Kamchatka Territory and Orenburg Region. During 2 days of the event, 57 reports have been delivered at the main and technical sessions related all stages of projects development and all areas of subsoil development, starting with geological exploration and subsoil development and ending with ecology, energy-saving and socially responsible subsoil use. A significant block was dedicated to assessing financial risks and opportunities of projects investment and lending. At the panel discussions held during the conference (“Mining industry in the Far East – Status, Prospects, Challenges” and “Investment attractiveness of projects for exploration, mining and processing of solid mineral deposits with the production of high value-added products in the Far East. Current opportunities for financing such projects”), participants of the discussions, among whom were the heads of large industry companies, banks financing this sector, representatives of the Moscow Exchange and a number of other companies, exchanged views on the most relevant industry topics. A particularly important issue, according to the polemicists, was the solution to the problems of development and effective use of human capital, including personnel problems concerning all companies. Sberbank-CIB and Otkritie Bank conducted their seminars in parallel with the main program.

An important part of the conference was the speeches of Rosnedra regional leaders and governmental agencies involved in the development of industry in the Far East. Besides, interesting reports were presented by service companies of completely different specializations – drilling, geological support, analytical laboratory services, supply of various types of equipment, materials and services for the mining and geological industry of the Far East, as well as reports on the environmental sphere and issues of social development and social responsibility of companies. And of course, with particular interest the audience accepted reports and discussions about the prospects for the further development of mining industry throughout the Far Eastern Federal District.

One of the features of MINEX FE over the years is the opportunity to make organized visits to large operating mining and metallurgical enterprises of the region. It is no secret that random people cannot get to working facilities. Due to the specifics of this industry, even if one could somehow get to the object on his own (which is often not simple), unauthorized people are not allowed to enter. But for MINEX FE delegates a great many of doors are opened. This year, Kimkano-Sutarsky MPP (Petropavlovsk – Ferrous Metallurgy, Jewish Autonomous Region) and the Amur MMC (Polymetal UK, Khabarovsk Territory) kindly agreed to accept the participants of MINEX FE 2019 and organize field trips to their production facilities. Both objects are unique in Russia in some way. Kimkano-Sutarsky MPP is the second of the MPPs built in the Far East by Petropavlovsk – Ferrous Metallurgy Company. The production capacity of the first stage of Kimkano-Sutarsky MPP is 10 million tons per year for the base ore and 3.15 million tons of iron ore concentrate annually, while plans to expand significantly this production as well as commissioning new facilities are considered. Amur Hydrometallurgical Plant, which is the center of the Amur Polymetal hub, is the first complex of autoclave leaching of gold ore concentrates in Russia and one of the largest capital projects of Polymetal, which has become a landmark for the gold mining industry not only in the Far East, but throughout Russia.

Undoubtedly, an important condition for the success of MINEX FE 2019 was its support by the Government of the Khabarovsk Territory and the Regional Investment Promotion Agency acted as one of the Partners of the event.

The organizers of MINEX FE 2019 express their gratitude to all partners of the event – IGT Group of Companies, the Agency for Investment and Development of the Khabarovsk Territory, Sberbank SIB and the Moscow Exchange. Special thanks to all sponsors of the conference, especially platinum sponsors – Polymetal UK and Highland Gold, gold sponsors – Petropavlovsk and Petropavlovsk-CherMet, Krastsvetmet and OGK Group, FC Otkrytie Bank and Priargunsky PGHO, as well as silver sponsors – VTB Bank, IG Group, MRC LMSU, NRC and Pro-Eurasia, bronze sponsor – EDC and corporate sponsor – RTKOMM for significant financial contribution and active participation in organizing the MINEX FE 2019 conference and exhibition. Besides, we thank our information partners – Far East business media and National Financial Association; the magazines: Napravlenie DV, Globus, DV Capital, Gold and Technology, Mining Industry, Gold of Eastern Russia, East Russia information and analytical agency, Rossiyskaya Gazeta and radio Komsomolskaya Pravda for their active assistance in covering this event.

We hope that the overpast MINEX Far East 2019 was interesting and useful to its delegates, and thanks to the positive light transmitted through its participants will have a positive impact on the life and work of even those companies, which had no opportunity to send their delegates to this event for some reasons. We expect that the past event will confirm the status of MINEX FE as the main mining event in the Far East and will draw in the future the attention of even greater number of participants to this event, as well as to all other main and associated events held with the participation of MINEX Forum.
